The lines for yesterday's initial sales of the iPad 2 were widely predicted to be shorter than at launch last April. In fact, they were longer. Over 1,110 people were lined up at the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York, compared to 730 at launch. It's now expected that Apple could sell as many as 500,000 iPad 2s the first day, compared to 300,000 the first day last April.
