I'll be curious to see how much interest the biopic jOBS, which opens August 16, will generate, or whether the window of opportunity has passed. One of two forthcoming movies on the life of Steve Jobs, jOBS premiered at the Sundance film festival and was originally supposed to open in theaters April 19. It stars Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs and Josh Gad as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. It covers Jobs's life from 1971 to 2000. Directed by Joshua Michael Stern and written by Matthew Whitely, the movie also features DermotMulroney, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, and Matthew Modine.
The official website features a clip from the movie in which Jobs and Wozniak have differing visions of the Apple computer. According to news reports, Wozniak said the movie has it all wrong. Scenes in the movie were shot in the actual garage of Steve Jobs's parents, where Jobs and Wozniak created the first Apple computer — and helped to jumpstart the personal computer industry.
According to the synopsis, "jOBS plunges into the depths of his character, creating an intense dialogue-driven story that is as much a sweeping epic as it is an immensely personal portrait of Steve Jobs' life."
