Spring cleaning is one of the biggest projects of the year for me. And if you're anything like me, you need a bit of motivation to tackle a large project. Checklists, to-do lists, and reminders are a necessity to keep me on track. Here, I'll share some of my favorite apps to to help tackle any task!

1. Brightnest (Free)

Brightnest Home Organization App

Brightnest does a little of everything—schedules home maintenance reminders, creates a cleaning schedule, or finds tips for keeping your home in tip-top shape. This handy app will ask you a few questions about your home and climate, prepare a cleaning and maintenance schedule for you, and notify you when it's time to check off an item. The checklist and reminder features are great, but the homeowner tips available in Brightnest are definitely the best part of this app. Brightnest is especially useful for those of us who can't seem to remember to change the batteries in the smoke detector every six months.

2. Real Simple To-Do Lists (Free)

Real Simple To-Do List

If you prefer to create your own to-do lists, you need the Real Simple To-Do Lists app. To give you some ideas, choose from one of the 30 pre-made lists Real Simple has created for you. If you become overwhelmed by your to-do lists or need a break, just shake your iPhone to display a random home-related fact.

3. Good Housekeeping @Home (Free)

Good Housekeeping @Home App

You can find solutions for all of your spring cleaning needs in the @Home app: stain removal, room-by-room, surface-by-surface cleaning advice, and even a gallery of beautiful home decor photos for when you need some decorating inspiration. All app ideas are backed by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute, so you're sure to get the same great tips and tricks you would get in the magazine and online at GoodHousekeeping.com.

4. Rumgr ($0.99)

Rumgr Virtual Garage Sale App

While you're spring cleaning, piles of belongings can add up quick. Give, sell, donate, trash... it can get overwhelming pretty fast! The Rumgr virtual garage sale app is a great way to get rid of your piles without wasting time uploading pictures and descriptions to multiple online buying/selling/trading sites. Upload your items to Rumgr and share to Facebook and twitter at the same time. Rumgr has its own community where members can search by location or item description. Another idea is to set up a circle of friends, for example, moms with children of similar ages, to exchange items with.
