The website All Things D reported yesterday that iOS 6 will have a standalone podcast app. I'm looking forward to that, since I actually use my iPad more for listening to podcasts than to music. And I've never been completely satisfied with the buitin app. As you likely know, the podcast function is currently part of the Music app, buried in the More tab. And you search out podcasts using the iTunes app. But according All Things D, a new podcast app will let users discover, download, and play podcasts all within the same app.
